Good manners mean good social behavior. The manners which are liked and are acceptable to the society without objection are good names. Politeness, respect for seniors, love for juniors, consideration for the feelings of others sympathy, kindness etc are the essence of good manners. In other word, good manner is the well behaving manner of the person which adds good impression on others as well as gives good feeling and confidence about oneself. Practicing good manners is very important for all of us and it is good if we do it from childhood with the help of parents and guardians. We must follow all the good manners whether we are at home, school, college, office, tourist places, or with friends.
Good manners can be learnt by observation. The first place of learning good manners is the family and the best period is childhood although we can learn at any age and at any place. If the family members are good mannered, the children become good mannered. Good company and good books are also the means of learning good manners.

A man with bad manners is hated by others. A rude and self conceited man does not get respect in the society. He loses his friends. He becomes alone in the society and then his life becomes miserable. In other word, a rich man has a crowd of flatterers around him and a powerful man may be obeyed by people just out of fear. But a man with pleasing manners is genuinely loved and appreciated by all. Good manners help a man to win friends easily.
Good manners cost nothing, but they bring about handsome rewards. When someone says "please" or "thank you" he actually finds himself in the middle of cheerful crowd. Good manners are a great virtue. They make life happy. When someone is polite and soft spoken, he gets over many difficult situations in life. Therefore, we must be good mannered.
